When to Apply:

First application must begin as soon as there are signs an outbreak is occurring such as: burning, tingling, itching, or redness of skin, blisters, small red or white bumps, rash, or areas of the skin sensitive to the touch.  The sooner you respond, the smaller the area impacted will be and the less time it will take to heal!

How to Apply:

• For sores on the inside of the mouth: Before applying, pat dry sore using a paper towel (do not use toilet paper or Kleenex as they will stick to sore).  Next, using a Q-tip with a plastic shaft (paper shafts absorb solution), dip into solution until saturated, roll saturated cotton tip against the inside neck of the bottle to remove excess, and apply directly to sore, rolling Q-tip back and forth over infected area for prescribed time found in section below titled “How Often to Apply”.  For small sores, hold tip of Q-tip directly onto sore and rotate Q-tip gently back and forth in a twisting motion.  Do NOT scrape sore with Q-tip.  Do NOT reinsert Q-tip back into bottle.  Do NOT eat food or drink liquids for half an hour after applying.
• For sores on the outside of the mouth and other body parts including genitalia: If hair is long, to prevent it from interfering during treatment, before applying, trim hair away from sore.  For those who suffer from genital herpes and experience frequent outbreaks, it is generally best to keep pubic hair short.  Next, using a Q-tip with a plastic shaft (paper shafts absorb solution), dip into solution until saturated, roll saturated cotton tip against the inside neck of the bottle to remove excess and apply directly to sore, rolling Q-tip back and forth over infected area for the prescribed time found in section below titled “How Often to Apply”.  Do NOT scrape sore with Q-tip.  Do NOT reinsert Q-tip back into bottle.  To prevent infected area from coming into contact with underwear, use a large, loose fitting Band-Aid.

How Often to Apply:

• For sores on the inside of the mouth: one 5-minute application and one 3-minute application, spaced 8 hours apart will be needed.  For sores on the tongue, because the skin is thick, one 7-minute applications and one 5-minute application, spaced 8 hours apart will be needed.  Skin will wrinkle and turn a reddish-brown color, which is normal and usually lasts about a half hour.  If area is still painful, outbreak is most likely severe and will require additional 5-minute treatments until healing begins.  A white, sometimes yellowish/cream colored film will cover the area, especially at point of outbreak and usually occurs after the first application.  Do NOT remove film, as this is a sign that the body is in the process of healing.
• For sores on the outside of the mouth and other body parts including genitalia: In most cases, because of the thickness of the skin, more than one (typically 5-7), 5-minute application, spaced approximately 6 hours apart, will be required before a scab begins to form, which is a sign the body is starting to heal.  If area is still painful, outbreak is most likely severe and will require additional 5-minute treatments until healing begins.  It's also important to note, that due to skin thickness varying from person-to-person, a scab might take longer to form on one person verses another.  Once scab forms, stop applying, so that healing continues uninterrupted.  Do NOT pick or remove scab, but allow it to fall off naturally.  If it falls off prematurely, apply Norasil for 3 minutes once per day until another scab forms.  Note, as area impacted continues to heal, scab will typically begin to lift around the edges.  If this occurs, do NOT peel off, but trim away lifted scab with scissors.

Important Information:

• Follow instructions carefully!
• Viruses and bacteria are aggressive, so don't stop using Norasil prematurely, or the virus or bacteria will stage a comeback!
• As reminder, when skin becomes saturated, it will wrinkle and turn a reddish-brown color, this is normal and to be expected, but won't last long.  The reddish-brown color will fade away over time.
• If solution should happen to come into contact with hands, rinse with water and dry, any remaining discoloration will eventually fade away.
• Area impacted by virus will obviously be sensitive when applying, but do not let this stop you, as the discomfort will taper off once the area becomes saturated and healing begins.
• To prevent spillage during use, replace bottle cap after wetting Q-tip. 
• If liquid should come into contact with countertop, or other porous surfaces, apply rubbing alcohol immediately and dry with paper towel, any remaining discoloration will eventually fade away.
• To prevent the spread of infection, wash hands immediately after applying and never reuse Q-tips.
• If solution comes into contact with clothing, apply rubbing alcohol and wash with soap and water immediately.  Any remaining discoloration with fade/wash away the next time you do laundry.
